Welcome!
My name is Iryna (eye-REE-nuh). I am a yoga teacher, a creative person, a smiler, a decent cook, a beginner gardener, a mother, a wife.
When I first started attending yoga classes, I was looking for "light exercise" after I had my youngest child. As I continued practicing, I discovered, to my surprise, that breathing, being still, and moving my body with intention allowed me to connect to my spiritual side, finding peace, self-compassion, and awe in the everyday. I was so taken by this practice that I decided that I wanted to share it with others. In 2020, I completed a 250-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Ti Harmony (godeep.yoga). I consider Ti my main influence in how I approach physical yoga on the mat (asana) as well as yogic philosophy and how I bring yoga into my daily life.
In my teaching, I'm on a mission to help people find comfort in their bodies, to trust themselves, and, ultimately, to get closer to inner peace. I try to connect with each student, and suggest individual modifications and ideas that work for my students' bodies in the moment. My classes also tend to be spaces where people get to know each other and find common ideas. I value introspection, self-compassion and self-trust - on the mat and in life - and so I always encourage my students to listen to their bodies and tune into their inner feeling during practice. I like to guide a long Savasana at the end of classes to help the physical and energetic bodies prepare to face life outside of the yoga class.
I was born and grew up in Eastern Europe and moved to the United States as a young adult, first to New York City, then to North Carolina. In the past few years, I doubled down on my pollinator and vegetable gardening ambitions. I also enjoy fiber crafts and interior design. I live in Carrboro, NC with my husband, two elementary-aged kids, a dog named Juno and a parakeet name Oatley.
